1 week in & day 9 Blog

I've now been on the road 1 week, of 6.  Here's are my first 10 take aways.

1. I forgot my pillow.  I miss my Pillow- it was $10 at target, I think I'm going to replace my pillow.

2. Sand gets EVERYWHERE.

3. I could have brought less. I'm the only person who knows if I wore the same shirt or shorts as yesterday. Why do I care?

4. I love my new day pack.  35L, great padding, structure and support, practical set up- but it's not waterproof, so I need to remember to put up the rain cover.

5. Carmex, Sunscreen and a brow pencil are my go-to look.

6. Instant Ice Packs for the win

7. Deodorant can melt

8. Cold showers are everything.

9. Getting out and walking every hour isn't optional.

10. Keeping the tank at least half full lowers my stress.

Day 9 Blog

-Left Long Beach this morning, filled the car with gas, got Starbucks and hopped on I-40 / Route 66

Today was basically just a day of driving.  8 hours of driving to be precise.  I crossed the 2000 mile threshold today [currently around 2250].

Whenever it made sense I got off I-40 and got on old Route 66.  It was fun to take a break from semi-trucks and traffic and just enjoy the great wide somewhere.

Great Wide Somewhere

I landed in Flagstaff for the night.

The Hotel is acceptable, though I likely wouldn't choose it again. But it's very convenient as it's just off the highway and close to plenty of food options within walking distance, as I have ZERO interest in driving anywhere until tomorrow morning.

Hotel Review: Hotel Elev8

Pros: Free Parking, Wifi, Microwave, mini-fridge, desk with chair and a few random chairs in the room, 2 nightstands with "lamps" [cheap usb plug in lamp], several restaurants in walking distance, Individual controlled a/c, Clean bathroom.

Cons: Couch pillows instead of bedding pillows, no duvet cover just a sheet under and above, paper thin walls (I can hear my neighbors heaving breathing), soft bed (personal Gripe)

Signing off for now
