Day 40- wow- 40 days on the road. Today was the first one I shared with anyone. My dad thankfully was able to drive for a little over a hour combined. I was eternally grateful for the help on the road. Roughly 8300 miles in leaving Minnesota, so I was ready for some help.
Our final stop for today was Aberdeen, South Dakota. I wasn't expecting much, because, it's South Dakota after all, but I was pleasantly surprised by a very nice downtown area. Clearly small town- but well maintained and still beautiful. My dad and I parked at the rear of a beautiful
court house. You can nearly always count on small towns to provide a beautiful court house. From there I could see another beautiful building I wanted to walk to. As we drew closer a thing of beauty emerged from behind the low lying buildings.
1st Methodist Church of Aberdeen is breath-taking. The top of the building circular encompassed in circular glass window below the dome. We proceeded to walk through down town and saw a very busy restaurant and decided it was worth the risk- even if just for the beer. I'm glad we stopped.
Three22 Kitchen & Cocktails was a great find. Pretty good tap list with local options and good food choices. Dad got a soup/sandwich combo and I got The SoDak chunks of sirloin cooked to mid-rare perfection and lightly fried with house seasoning with onion straws and 2 sauce options I am a happy camper.
We walked through the rest of downtown- found an option or 2 for breakfast tomorrow before returning back to our hotel for the night to watch baseball. The Twins are on.
