#TeamProjectPan June 2022 Update

The last month of the school year, my wedding anniversary and the start of summer vacation. Lots of opportunities to get dressed up, but also a lot of opportunities for no-makeup days. Came into this month with similar goals of last month. Finish a foundation and a sunscreen, and make a dent in my current eyeshadow palette.  I also went through my entire stash this month and did some decluttering of products I either don't ever reach for or that have gone bad.

I've put the Tarte Palette back into storage. It's just so powdery.  I'm honestly unsure if I'll keep it beyond this year, but thats a conversation for December not now.

Please remember I rarely pay full price for makeup or skin care.  When I do pay full price I always shop at store I get cash back at either through my credit card or Rakuten. The vast majority of my collection came through beauty boxes over the last decade. The prices I list are for replacement value only.

Empties:

Hangover Primer Mini I went to use this as a foundation based on 6/1 and found I only had 1 use left in the tube.  It put down a nice base and my makeup lasted all day (11 hours from application to removal). I did notice some flakiness on my forehead but that's normal for me.  I wouldn't say it's a required extra step, but it did start me out with a nice base for the day. $18

GlamGlow Stimulating mask Mine says tingling mask, but I think they just rebranded it.  Honestly does the burn mean it's working? Because skin care in my opinion shouldn't burn.  Yes a strong Retinol will have a reaction while you're getting use to it, but burning on contact is a sign it has no business on your skin.  This is the last of them, glad to be rid of them. To be fair I did discover this month that I purchased these holiday 2017 so over 4 years ago.  $6.50

Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinol I love this product. I wish I'd known about Retinol in my teens and early twenties would have solved a lot of self-esteem issues due to acne. I've used Retinol for a while, but this was a big step up.  I had to ease into it, 2x a week building up to daily use over the course of 6 months. I'm trying prescription Retinol next, but if I don't have luck with that I will happily spend the money on this product. $85.

Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream- Mini Mini size of the dewy skin cream. This is a thick really high moisture cream. I probably wouldn't purchase it again due to the smell, it's traditional Tatcha and in a product that I don't wash off, it's a bit much, but if you like the fragrance there is not reason not to use it. $20

Bliss Block Star Sunscreen Had 4 uses left in June. I love the way this feels on my skin and the finish. It has a perfumed scent, while not as bad as typical body sunscreen, it is very strong at first.  While it does eventually go away, it's unpleasant when applying and for about 30 minute after. I got it through a beauty box earlier this year. It doesn't leave a white cast which makes it great for days I'm planning on a photo. I would consider repurchasing, especially for travel because again great for photos.  I often wear this alone with no foundation. My powder products go on easily over top. $25

Ivory Oak Sample I've used up several of these this year. I love them. I'm pretty sure this was my last one.  I've cut up a regular bar into 4 parts so I can use it better as hand soap.  I would buy a 12 pack of minis in a heart beat for the whole year

Marykay Timewise Microdermabrasion- I have had this specific product since June of 2015.  It was a gift from a colleague when I left Syracuse.  It was time to use it up.  I find I'm not a huge fan of it on my face after all these years-I like it on my hands and love it on my heels, elbows and knees. So that's how finally used it up.  I wish it wasn't from an MLM, I really do enjoy the product and think it works really well in the areas I use it. If anyone has a non-MLM dupe let me know. $A little goes a long way and yes I do think it's worth the price tag. Especially for northern climate winter skin. 36

Foil Packet- Will not be included in counts- but I finished up a foundation foil packet for the Too Faced born that way foundation- I was not a fan- it split on my cheeks and chin, but stuck to all the dry patches on my forehead.  0-Stars do not recommend.

Progress:

It Cosmetics Illuminating CC Cream in Fair - I started trying to pan this in May with 1/3 left. After a full month of use (M-F) it still have about 1/5 left. This product feels like it's never ending. I wore it at least 12 times this month and still have product left. Maybe I'll finish it in July

Hempz Original Lotion Half way through the container at the end of May. I was planning to only use it 1x a week in June, but the weather and my skin were more like January so I used it more regularly and have about 1/4 of the container left.

Marina Facial Oil Its very moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling and looking brighter.  I found myself reaching for it a lot this month.  The prescription Retinol had a strong reaction on my skin, and I found myself unable to use most products, but I could still use the Marina Facial Oil for some moisture on days everything else burned.  I probably used 10mils this month of a 30mil bottle

Tula Protect and Glow SPF- Opened a new SPF after finishing the last one.  My foundations have 50-SPF, so I primarily use my facial sunscreens on the weekends/ non-work days. It is VERY glowy- almost bordering on greasy, until it settles into the skin (30-45 min) I've used about half the tube this month.

Fenty Gloss Bomb In Fu$$y I am no where near using it up, but it's pretty much the only lip product I wear any more so eventually I'll finish it.  I love it it's the perfect shine without being sticky.

Dr. Kerklaan CBD relief cream I had a 1oz version. Its okay, not as good as my green goo, but it works for about 30 minutes. I used it a few times a week and have about 1/3 of the tube left- will finish next month.

I hit pan on my blush.  Frankly that was the goal for the year, so I may swap it out with other blushes and highlighters, but I rarely wear a full face of make up in the summer- so we shall see.

Declutter

Brazillian Bum Bum Cream 5 years ago this had cult status.  They've come out with a few new lines over the last few years and expanded product range.  I remember buying a 3 pack of the minis a few years back. I couldn't remember how long ago- thankfully Sephora helped me out as they know all my order history and I purchased a 3 pack for $40 ($20 savings at the time) on March 18, 2018. This has split to the point that stirring it back up didn't help it any.  I know I used up the other 2 sometime in the last 4 years and this was about half empty, but I still hate wasting product.  $22 is the cost of the original (mini) size now.

Dr. Brandt Needles No more This product was in every subscription box for about a year, Ipsy, Gloss and Fabfitfun all sent this out. This is not a product I would purchase for myself. I found it in the declutter it has gone off, so off it goes $42

Colour Pop: BFF Liquid Liner in Blue This is a felt tip liner. It was never as opaque as I wanted, but was workable until it dried up. $8

Sephora Collection Kohl Pencil Technically an empty, but I cannot remember the last time I used it. I went to sharpen it and it is done. Thick kohl pencil lines aren't my thing when I even bother with eyeliner at all I want a thin precise line. This just isn't my style anymore. $10

LA Girl Perfect Precision Eyeliner in Tropical- very cool color, if it actually came across that way. It's patchy and jumps during application. It would require a very firm hand to show up on the eye the color its advertised as.  It also smears to nothing. $3

Colour Pop Lip Pencil in BFF2 Nothing wrong with these lip pencils. I had the full set at one point in time. I now have the 6 I'll actually ever use. This one is just too dark brown for what I like to use. $7.

Nyx Faux Black Eyeliner They don't sell the color I have "Midnight".  I really dislike this formula. It's very waxy and tugs along the eye causing the pencil to skip and jump which causes flaws in the application.  $8.

Essence Lip Pencil Again they don't sell the color I have "Cute Pink" The formula is fine and I like the precision, but cute pink is not a color I wear so it doesn't need to stay. $3

Bliss Cream Blush in Oh So Apricot.  No idea when I got this, but I'm certain it came in a subscription box. I don't like cream blushes, I don't like sparkle in my blush, I certainly don't like cream shimmer blush.  The shade itself isn't bad, but I cannot get over the shimmer and I never want for a cream blush. The top of this was starting to look like it was going bad and since I have no memory of when it came in, it's time for it to go out. $24.99

Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara Influencers made me buy it and I regret it.  I tried it for 2 weeks and by the end of every work day (9 hours of wear) I had flakes and streaks under my eyes.  I have better products, there are better options at the drugstore, so this has to go. $10.99

Lancome Monsieur Big Travel sized mascara.  I love the way this makes my lashes look, but it simply doesn't last. It's flakey and starts wearing off after just a few hours.  $14

Huda Legit Lashes Double-Ended Mascara Travel Size- Got this for free as an extra with purchase. It had the opposite problem my other mascara failures have had this month.  I double cleanse every time I wear make up.  That's an oil based cleanser and a face wash. I've done that 2 nights in a row in addition to micellar water around the eyes and I'm still having it come off under my eyes at night and through out the day.  There has to be a middle ground between 48 hour wear and under 10.  $15

Incoming:

Cosmetics Company Store purchase (Estee Lauder company store) Tom Ford Quad, Bobbi Brown lipstick and Clinique lip balm- total cost $56. If you aren't familiar with the company story its all Estee lauder brands 40-90% off.  They have a much larger selection at their in person locations, but those are limited around the country and the one closest to me is still over an hour away.

Got my hair cut and picked up a new shampoo and conditioner as I'm not loving the ones I'm using. Redken "All Soft Mega".  $58

I finally did it. I got a prescription for Retinol. I went through Apostrophe. The $75 for what is is supposed to be a 3 month supply. If I don't like it, I'll go back to the Sunday Riley A+, but I've had a number of friends who are older than I am, but who have better skin than I do, who have recommended Apostrophe specifically so I thought it would be worth a try.  I am having to go very slowly and only use it 2x a week. I can tell it's a lot stronger than what I've been using.

End of month Update-  I don't think this is for me, at least not this combo or strength.  I only used it 2x a week and my skin flared to the point the only relief was icing my face. I couldn't use any of my normal (sensitive skin) products without irritation and pain.  I will not be using this up. I will be switching back to my Sunday Riley products - They were what I could handle

Running totals:

Empties: 38 +6 =44             Declutters: 41+12=53

$769  + $191.50=   $960.50        $659.50 + $167.98 = 827.98

Goals for July

Sunscreen I own so many and I just need to get outside and use them. I have a face sunscreen and a body sunscreen that are each half empty- goal is to finish them both in July

Finish the foundation- the never ending goal

Hit the 100th product either used up or decluttered.

Play around with foundations

Use up current shampoo and conditioner- I had high hopes, but I'm not a fan so I'd rather just be done with them. (1/4 container of Shampoo and 1/3 container of conditioner left)
