#TeamProjectPan2022 May Update

My goal this month was to use up a sunscreen and 3 foundations each with an SPF of 50. I had 1/3 of a container left of 2 of them and a full tube of another, and my sunscreen is tinted. So this wasn't a realistic goal, but it did encourage me to put on make up every day, which helped me use up a lot this month. I went a little Ham with skin care, but it got me through a rough month at work and all the self-care is completely justified.

What Came in-

  1. I got a Fabfitfun box this month so that means things entered my collection. A new sunscreen, a leave on teeth whitener, a CBD lotion, a setting spray and an after sun aloe gel. The Sunscreen and Aloe gel I shouldn't have any issues using up this summer. The lotion is a deluxe sample size and will be my go to for back massages because chronic pain. Nothing came in, in this box, that I don't see myself being able to use up besides the teeth whitener.
  2. I also made a colour pop order this month- A got a green palette that replaces the shades in the very old prism palette that I decluttered, and got a lipstick I hoped would replace the wanderlust lip shades I had to declutter; it didn't but its still a nice brownish nude shade. I also picked up some colorful eyeliner and a new highlighter that I didn't need but is Winnie the pooh and I couldn't help myself.  I wont use up any of these items this year, but I don't regret them either.
  3.  I finished up my shampoo and conditioner this month (1 year in the making) so I swapped in a combo that I've tried a little before; Honey infused from Gisou. Last year I used up about half the shampoo and just opened the conditioner (5/26). I have another bottle of this shampoo if I need it. I tend to use up conditioner faster than shampoo though.

Empties:

Laritzy Lipstick in plum. They don't seem to make the product line anymore. I consider it completed probably 1 to 2 uses left, but it doesn't wind up so I'd have to scrape it out. Also its not a healthy thing for my lips- really drying. App $20

Tula Cleanser I HATE this product on my face. So I used it on my body and I still don't like it there; but I finally finished it up.  It's too thick. It's almost impossible to get out of the tube and smells like the ocean and not in a pretty way. I got it in a beauty box and would not repurchase. $28

Crest 3D Radiant White- Didn't see stain improvement but it gets my teeth clean and leaves me with fresh breath.  No complaints, but I will probably try to find something that does whiten my teeth. $5

Wei Brown Sugar Scrub- I keep finding more of these. I got them in subscription boxes a while back, but I think this is really the last one. I wish it came in a tube, the "single use" sashays are enough for 2-3 uses so I end up putting it over my face, neck and chest.  They feel wasteful for what they are.  If they came in a tube I'd probably try it out again, but as is, it's not good value. $6

Double ended Wanderlust lipstick.  They don't make or sell this product any more. Or any traditional lipsticks for that matter, which is unfortunate because it was a great creamy lipstick formula in a color I love.  i used it til it broke.  Both ends snapped in half. No longer useable.  Looking for a rum raisin type color that meets the need this lipstick filled. app $25

Sunday Riley C.E.O 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum- 15ml  I love this product, it makes me feel pretty, but there has to be a cheaper option.  It lasted several months but I only used it a few times a week. If I cannot find a Vitamin C I like as much I will buy the Value size for $122, but I'd really rather not spend that much on skin care unless I have to, so I'll be trying out other options for the next few months. $40

Glamglow powermud Dual Cleanse I had a deluxe sample- but it is old and had crusted over a lot so it only had 1 use in it which is fine because this burned, worse than any other glam glow mask; which is saying something. My skin feels really smooth but that's probably a result of loosing an entire layer. I would not purchase this product again. $6.50

Glamglow: Gravitymud Deluxe sample. This tin-man looking silver mask goes on cooling, turns into an intense tingle almost burn for a few minutes then mellows as it dries and tightens (if you can get past the burn part).  It's certainly not my favorite feeling in a mask, but I guess some people associate the tingle with it "working".  10ml was 2 full face applications$6.50

Glamglow: Thirsty Mud Hydrating Mask Deluxe sample. It has a warming tingly/burning sensation for the first 5ish minutes. However I cannot deny how pump my skin looks after a mask. It's a visually significant difference. 10ml was 3 full face applications and 1 neck application. $6.50

Glamglow Brightening Treatment This is the first mask I enjoyed using- at first. The directions say to use it 3 days in a row then weekly.  Well this was a sample so I got 3 days and the first 2 were fine, but the 3rd day did burn at the start but similarly to all the others as it dried down it got a little better. It does have an exfoliating texture and smells like papaya- though hubby thinks it watermelon. Didn't see a difference after any of  the uses. $6.50

Ivy Oak Heritage Farm Soaps In Pumpkin spice. Sample size. I've gotten 3 for free with each of my last 2 orders.  So they aren't added to the cost total below. I love this brand. I love these samples. If they actually sold them in packs of 12 I'd buy them, because they'd last me a whole year in my personal bathroom. I wont use any other soap if I can help it.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo The jumbo size lasted me 1 year as someone who washes shoulder length hair 2x a week on average. This and the conditioner fixed my hair. I wish I'd had this as a teen to deal with the tangles better. $62 for the jumbo size

Living Proof Perfect hair Day conditioner This conditioner fixed the tangles in my hair it used to be something I struggled with daily and now its not a problem I comb through my hair in the shower when I have the conditioner in. I highly recommend this for anyone who deals with tangles. I finished the conditioner before the shampoo but only by a few weeks. $62 for the jumbo size

Human and Kind Hand Scrub- I used it as a body scrub and I like it for that purpose. It's a good exfoliator in the shower and leaves my body ready to soak in the lotion.  I would maybe purchase it for travel. I got 5 full body exfoliations out of it making it great for a vacation but not really cost effective for every day use. $15

Progress:

It Cosmetics Illuminating CC Cream in Fair - I added this to the project with about 1/3 of the container left to use.  I used it every day this month M-F and its still have product left. I forgot how much I love this foundation.  I think I purchased it when I was more combination and now my skin is very much dry and I love some illumination and this does it.   If I ever run out of foundation  (I've got a lot to do) I would totally purchase this again. I love the pump/tube combination. I apply it with fingers, sponge or a brush all good, though I like the finish I get with a brush best; I use this one No 77) I need 2 pumps to cover my face with medium to full dewy finish coverage.

Ren Toner -AHA/BHA toner. I use it as my 3rd step after my double cleanse and/or 1st thing in the morning. It gets off whatever I missed and the AHA/BHA help whatever my skin problems are.  I've had it way to long but its a pump on clean cotton pads. 2/3rds of the way done- will finish by end of summer.

Hempz Original Lotion The smell of this brings me back to the tanning salons I went to in high school. A little tropical. It takes 4 pumps per leg for me and I'm about half way through.  The goal is completing this by the end of 2022.

Bliss Block Star Sunscreen I probably have 1-2 uses of this left. I love the way this feels on my skin and the finish. But I really dislike the smell. It doesn't have the typical sunscreen smell, and while it is better, it isn't good.  While it does eventually go away, it's unpleasant when applying and for about 30 minute after. I got it through a beauty box earlier this year. It doesn't leave a white cast which makes it great for days I'm planning on a photo. I would consider repurchasing, especially for travel because again great for photos.  I often wear this alone with no foundation. My powder products go on easily over top.

Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick in Cookies and Cream has been my go to this month. I'd used it before, but I've used it almost every day this month. It's so easy. Eye look done in 2 minutes. This is a sharpen-able double ended pencil. I do have to say that the Thrive Eye Brightner is my preferred in this category. The thrive products are more expensive but they last longer. This will probably last another month or 2.

Glamglow deluxe sample pack Mine is slightly different than the one linked.  I got it at Sephora during the holidays probably 2 years ago.  It says it was $39 ($83 Value) for 6 deluxe samples (10ml each), so as I use up each one I will count it as a $6.50 item.  Each deluxe sample has 2-3 uses. I was going to focus on 1 a month, but I got bored easily and have worked through nearly all of them, I haven't liked any of them so I will use up what I can tolerate and never buy them again.  I do enjoy their bubble sheet masks that are over priced but fun; but their cream masks are a no go for me.

Prep Rally I love this product. I put it in my hair after every shower when my hair is 50% or more dry. I don't use heat on my hair more than a few times a year, but I love this product for it's detangling properties.  I have a few other products similar to this, but once I use those up I plan to come back to this one. It's by far my favorite.

Blush/Highlight duo- Pan on highlight is expanding, blush has a dent, but know idea if I'll hit pan this year- but that's the goal.  With rare exception I use the same product every day.

Bronzer- Didn't use much this month but the pan size continues to grow.

Declutter:

Prism Palette I only use 3 colors in this whole palette consistently. I reach for it when I'm interested, but most days I don't. I've had it for 5 years. I got a colour pop palette that replaces the green so I could finally get rid of something very very old. $45

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Sunscreen I have had this for too long- it's over 3/4ths of the way used but has separated and smells vial. So in the bin it goes. I felt greasy using this and would not purchase it again. $5

ABH- Pink Champagne Lipstick Not a color they make any more. It's a beautiful sparkly dusty pink, but like all other ABH matte lipsticks the formula is life sucking. I just cannot wear stuff like this anymore.  All the lip lines $18

Spongelle - Jasmine Star I've used spongelle sponges for years on and off, but this one caused an adverse reaction and rash for me.  It was probably the fragrance used, but whatever the reason it had to go.  (This was in a Fabfitfun box) $25

Stila Liquid Lipstick In Biscotti-They still make the product but not this color which was a light grey brown shade.  I used to LOVE this formula. But this has gone off. It made my lips feel fuzzy. I would say it over 75% used up. But it had to go. $22

Glam Glow Clearing Mud The one truly burns. 30 seconds and I had couldn't get it off my face fast enough. Even after 3 rinses, re-washing my face and applying a lotion it still feels like it's burning. I have no idea how or why I ever liked this brand I cannot use this at all so it's going straight to the bin. $6.50

Goals-

1. Finish current foundation, work on next It cosmetics product.

2. Finish Sunscreen

3. Hit pan on a Tarte Eyeshadow in the Tarteist palette.

4. Pick another sunscreen to pan

#TeamProjectPan2022 April Update

This year I am realizing how wasteful I've been.  No one expected a global pandemic, but I have so many products that have just gone off.  This month and likely this whole year is about getting rid of unusable products and only keeping things I genuinely enjoy using. I am keeping track of the value to replace the items I've either used up or decluttered.  Please keep in mind that nearly every decluttered product has been used, and also that many of my products come through subscription boxes where I don't pay full price for the items. The cost I'm listing is the cost to re-purchase these items now.

 Empties:

Lume Acidified Body Wash 2x- Happy to be finishing this up.  It is an unscented body wash that is probably great for a lot of people; for me however it does not lead to happy skin at my home.  I've been mainly using it on my feet and heels because of the peeling and flakiness it causing on my normally softer skin. Like all the Lume products. I wont purchase this again. - I did take 1 of the 2 on vacation with me, and found that in my mother's home with hard water that I didn't hate it as much, but with the soft water we have here in the PWN it's a no go for me. (

Bubble Sheet Mask by Glam Glow 2x- I picked these up recently at the Estee Lauder company store (aka 40-70% OFF) Great place to do shopping if you like any of the companies that fall under their parent brand. But I got these with the specific purpose of having a fun activity with my mom when I was home.  I consider $9 way too much for a single sheet mask, but $10 for 2 and a fun memory with my mom- totally worth it.

Skin Fix AHA body cream- Deluxe sample- I have used a lot of AHA. Usually in toners, this was okay, but I think I'll stick to the products I know and love.

Tatcha Dewy Cleanser- Deluxe Sample Size.  This is my favorite cleanser. I love the way it leaves my skin feeling and its a smell that doesn't bother me but makes me feel fancy (this is a rare breed when you are a super smeller). I used this on my most recent travels and we had company in April so I had to move from my bathroom to my husbands and finished this up then. I have a full size I will continue to use this product.

Nutrisse Ultra Color- Dark Indigo- I would say my hair is more black than anything.  The grey certainly became blue the rest requires a high amount of light to actually see the blue cast. It didn't dry my hair out too much, was easy to apply and stains on skin and counters removed relatively easily. I am happy with the amount of pigment it gave over my already dark brown hair.  Certainly much more affordable than going to the salon.

111SKIN Rose Gold Illuminator- This brand was for a long time  (and may still be) a staple of the beauty box community. Extremely overpriced items that were sure to bring up the value of your subscription. I've had this one for at least a year and finally finished it up today. It is a subtle shimmer for your skin. But honestly an illuminating Mac Fix+ does the same thing for a fraction of the price.  The only item in my skin care collection I would have spend close to this much on is my retinol and that's actually an active. Do not waste your money on this serum. There are so many drug store options that provide better illumination.

Dr. Dennis Gross pore refining serum- probably had one to two uses left but changed color a few weeks okay and started to smell old. So borderline declutter empty I’m calling an empty. I don’t really feel like it does anything certainly not $65 of anything I would not repurchase.

Brown Sugar Mask- 1 mask ($6) Using up old skin care.  Easy quick sugar scrub mask. Smells good feels nice, just trying to use up old beauty box goodies. Would not buy for myself.

Ivory Oak Soap Sample- I love these folks.  Every time I put in an order they include mini soaps in the shape of pumpkins that smell like a pumpkin spice latte.  I use them in my bathroom and also take them with me when I travel as I find other hand soaps to be extremely drying. I use up about 1 mini a month based on a schedule of working full time.  Since they don't sell them I wont be adding it to a cost total below. I can highly recommend their products and I love supporting Minnesota Businesses.

Progress:

When I fixate on things the progress always seems slow. So that's it, progress is slow. I took several foil samples with me on Spring break to Minnesota and finished up 2 of them. Also made progress on the deluxe samples I use for travel. Continued but slow consistent progress on routine more mundane products: Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, lotions.

Most of my skin care is in glass jars I cannot see into, but I feel like I'm probably running low on a lot of them.

Declutter:

Stila Beso- But mine had shimmer in it.  Sadly after being open for probably 6 years (yes you can judge me) and not used for 2 it has totally dried up and is not pleasant to wear.  I do love this formula normally. It's one of the only matte liquid lips I will still wear.  I have so many red lips in similar shades so I will not be replacing this one at this time.

Mini Lume Body Butter 2x- This link takes you to the full size, I had a travel mini I got in a bundle.  I haven't been a fan of the lume products, but will use them up or in this case give them away.  I had a student come to me and say they couldn't do work at school because their hands were dry.  This isn't a new excuse it's why I keep lotion at work. But this child doesn't have any classes with me, so I gave them the mini so they had 1 less excuse for the day.  I tossed out the 2nd sample I had as I actively dislike this product

Bite Beauty Lip Crayon in Glace. Loved the color and got a lot of use out of it, but it has gone off. I had it in a deluxe sample (1gram vs 1.5 grams) I would buy something from this line again, but this is so far past gone I cannot wear it.

Double Ended Bite Beauty lipsticks In Fig and Rose Gold.  Great color combo horrible formula.  I really don't like the formula, its a cream product but exceptionally drying on the lips. I really like the fig color and will seek to replicate it, just not from this brand.

Flesh Fatale Mini Lip Stick- Another Pat McGrath labs. I think this may be the last of them. I really love the color of this, mauve nude with glitter.  But it smells like a Crayon and is very drying so its time for it it go.

Norvina Palette - I only ever reach for 1 shade in this palette and I can dupe it in my collection, probably more than once. I took a stab at depotting it, that failed and I broke a few other shades in the process so I tossed it.  I do like the formula of these, but it's so big so old (I got it when it first came out in 2018) and not a color range I'm ever reaching for so it's time to say goodbye

Pat McGrath Labs 6 pan eyeshadow- Again only reach for this on spirit days for the red and gold eye shadows. Made a botched attempt to depot, but I will keep the red and gold, everything else can go.  This brand is over hyped.  I have a mini 5 pan left, but otherwise I think I've decluttered everything I own from this brand.  The quality simply doesn't match the price.

Plan for May-

  • Use up my It Cosmetics CC creams- they are very much at the end of their lives and I just need to use them up. I have 3, the Bye Bye version in Fair light, and the Illuminating and the original in Fair.
  • Use up another sunscreen.
  • Enjoy using non-ABH eyeshadows
  • Use at least 4 single use masks in the month of May
