Team project Pan December 2022

I did a really big declutter last month, more this month as I organized my collection for going into 2023- I still own more than any 1 person probably needs, but it's a lot more manageable at this point.

I didn't purchase any beauty products this month so that feels good too. Though I did have 2 products come in as gifts.

Empties:

Thrive Brilliant Eye Brightener -Shadow stick in Stella. Great for the inner corner or the whole eye. I've had this product for years, but I finally finished it up. I just picked up a Mac paint pot, that will replace for sometime to come, but if you like the simplicity of a stick this is great.  If you prefer a wood to plastic option- try the Eyeko dual ended stick in cookies and cream for a similar effect. $25

Ivory Oak Goat Milk Soap-- I have 1 bar I cut into 4ths that I've been using up as a hand soap and another as a bar in the shower- the shower bar is what I have finished. It is in my all time favorite scent of Eucalyptus Mint. $7.49

Ivory Oak Oatmeal Honey Goat Milk Soap I had 1/4th of my oatmeal honey bar left and have used it up. I would not purchase this particular bar again, because I don't like the texture in the product $7.49

Dry Bar Prep & Prime : Noir When I tell you this is a holy grail item please listen.  I can finally keep my unruly hair under control. I can finally manage having the long beautiful hair all my friends had when we were kids.  If I'd had this in my childhood it would have saved so many screaming matches and fights with my mother.  I have tried dozens of other de-tanglers and nothing even comes close.  It is 100% worth the price and I will always have one on hand.  $26

Laroche-Posay Lipkar Wash AP+ I had high hopes for this one. But for my face it's not a good fit. It left my skin feeling dry. It's the consistency of white glue and yields less than ideal results. I have been using it as a body wash in the shower and haven't had the issues I had with the skin on my face, but my skin is extra pilly after I use this product- so I guess it's exfoliating, so that's good, but I wont buy it again. $16

Earth harbor laguna is a body oil I apply all over about 1x a week. I feel like it restores moisture that I am missing, but it’s too much for me to use everyday. I really to enjoy it and it did last quite a while with my weekly use. I would consider it again-especially if I could get it for $20 or less as I think that's my ideal price for the product.  $26

Earth Harbor Luna Rain deluxe sample This is one of the 4 pieces in the Kit listed below in progress.  My experience with this (7 days) is very similar to the response my skin had to the Sunday Riley "Good Genes" I attribute that to them both being AHA formulations.  Earth Harbor coming in at about 2/3rds the cost of the Sunday Riley. I don't really feel the need for either of them in my life at this point, but neither is a bad product. $8 ( based on current cost of kit on sale)

Earth Harbor Mermaid Milk Deluxe Sample Marketed as a moisturizer, I am not it's target cliental.  This is probably great for those oily skin folx and I'm sure in my teens and early 20's it would have been a hit. But I'm getting old and my skin is getting dry and this just doesn't cut it. Also the smell is a bit off putting. A little too sea-kelp ocean like for me.  Also the name and description contradict each other with one saying it's a Glow moisturizer and the other claiming a demi-matte finish.  I think the name is a crock and the description is where it's at, but I'd say this is full matte finish. $8 value based on current sale price.

Eos Lip balm Better off getting carmex would not repurchase $3.49

Bliss Moisturizer. I got this earlier this year in a Fabfitfun box, but didn't like it for my face, I had used probably 1/4 of what was left as a full body hydration after a shower, than when I went to use it a 2nd time I spilled the majority of what was left on the floor and finished it off for a second full body hydration.  Would have used it again for the body if it wasn't all a waste on the floor. I would not use it for my face though. It wasn't hydrating enough for me. $24

Karuna Drench Sheet Mask- I got 4 masks from this brand in my most recent fabfitfun box. Price listed is what 1 mask sells for on the website. Clearly designed for hydration based on the name, this sheet mask has a light floral scent.  I wouldn't wear it as a perfume, but I don't mind it in a mask that is temporary. As for the hydration- I don't feel like it did much-I wouldn't purchase again.  $5

Blue dot lifting mask. One of the few face masks I really enjoyed. I thought I would had the ear loops and the under chin part, but I actually really love it.  I feel like it holds the product on my face and I find the loops very comfortable. $3.90

Mary Kay Satin Hands Hand Cream It's a nice gift set to give to people- I am sure I finished the other products ages ago- this was just the hand cream. It's nice but I wouldn't buy it for myself.  $12 for the hand cream alone.

Living Proof PhD Mini Shampoo- Purchased in November when I had to be home for a family emergency- Used up during holiday travel $16

Living Proof PhD Mini Conditioner Purchased in November when I had to be home for a family emergency- Used up during holiday travel $16

Clay slip mask mini - I don’t dislike it  but I feel like if this was in my cleanse I would want another cleanse, but in my routine this is the double step so I don’t think I’d buy a full size, but it has a nice lather and skin feel- very gentle. Came as part of a kit- Based on the cost of the full size- this mini has a value of $7

Progress:

Mud Masky Is an Australian clay mud mask that came in my fall Fabfitfun box.  It's just a pink clay mask.  I feel like I cannot notice a difference between this and a drugstore brand that charges a fraction of the cost, but there isn't anything wrong with it. It went on fine tingled a little and rinsed off in a few minutes. I could see myself adding it to my routine 1x a week before a shower for easier rinsing. Their website claims it has up to 10 uses- if that's the case its $5 a mask which isn't horrible, but we'll see what my usage looks like. 8x uses so far

Glossier Balm-dotcom - Birthday Cake It's not universal because it has sparkle so I personally wouldn't use it anywhere other than my lips. My lips got super dry being in the hospital for a lot of November and then the dry air of winter set in and this isn't great for defending against that. I used up about half of the tube this year. I will keep it in my purse, but it's not my go to balm of choice.

Earth Harbor Sampler kit- I got this at a HUGE discount (Paid $14) through fabfitfun- I have enjoyed a lot of Earth Harbor in the past and wanted to try a few more. The kit comes with a Luna (night serum), Marina (day brightening serum), Mermaid Milk (moisturizer) and Glow Mask (Gel Mask). (total value $32 (on sale) will give each product an $8 when I use it up).

Farmacy Honey Halo Hydrating Cream- I purchased this on recommendation from a friend years ago- I have the jumbo 3.4 oz- The honey smell was nice at first, but the allure has worn off-I don't love it. Also I've been reminded why I don't use it on my face- it makes my face itch- but I haven't had that reaction thus far on my body- so I will be using it as body lotion only.

Natasha Denona Blush/Highlight Duo - I had planned to declutter this at the end of 2022- but an end of th year vacation (after taking about a month off this product) reminded me why I love it.  Its compact and easy to travel with, it is the perfect blush and highlight for me for a natural beauty look, but I wont use it every day in 2023 I will save it for travel. It likely had 300 uses in 2022, so it that way I am ready for a change, but I'll hold on to it. I don't feel there is value in most products form this brand- but this blush/highlight duo if you can find a set of shades that work for is you completely worth it.  I hit pan on the highlighter in February and on the Blush in June.

Declutter:

Rare Beauty Sponge This is horrible. It made my face look like a textured wall.  There is a reason this is being clearance out. Don't waste your money $7

It's a 10 Miracle leave in Product. It's a flop.  This leave in hair product is one of many I tried on my way to the Dry Bar Prep and prime. This one was a flop.  I gave it several attempts with 3 different shampoo conditioner combos over the year and it left my hair feeling heavy and weighted down.  The smell also leaves a lot to be desired. $21

Naked Smoky Palette-I've had this palette as long as I've been married. I broke the lid in our last place  so its very much 2 pieces now and I tried to use it yesterday for a monochromatic look for spirit days at work and realize that it doesn't blend well, the colors are really patchy and I only reach of it for spirit days and for halloween (maybe 3x a year) and it's 5+ years old, so I don't need to keep it. They don't sell this one any more but naked palettes are $44 so that's what I'm going with

2 Pat McGrath eye shadows.  I kept these 2 colors (red and gold) for spirit days at work. However the last two times I've worn them I've had really bad reactions on my eyes. She wont sell individual shadows so I've assigned an assumed cost of about $10 a shadow for a total of $20 for 2 large pans

Eczema Honey Itch Cooling Pads Is a tub of facial rounds that are designed to cool down itchy skin.  I didn't not find them useful though I used up about half, and after moving them 2x since owning them it's time to chuck them in the bin. $16.95

Lume Acidified Body Butter I've probably put "this is the last one" a dozen times this year, I keep finding them. I dislike this product, but in addition to purchasing some myself I got them for ages as samples in boxes. $5

Foot Cream- Blood Orange foot cream to be exact.  You know when you brush your teeth after a glass of OJ, how it makes you wan to gag? Well this smells like that tastes- menthol and citrus do not belong together.  $20

Color Fx custom drops- They don't make this shade any more and it's a mini- so counts as an item but not for cost

Urban Decay Metalized lipstick in Jungle- It's a green sparkle.  It was fun- it had a purpose, but it's old and gone off. Urban decay lipsticks go for $19

Guerlain Lip Balm- Coral I have different packaging, but its the same core product.  I wanted to like this, but it's too pink for me and the smell I just cannot get past- it's too fragrant for me to have on my face and close to my nose for that much time. $40

Smashbox eyeshadows in turned on and psyched which are a sunset pink and sparkle brown and those just aren't things I'm reaching for. No price found

Colour Pop Super Shock Shadow It was in a limited edition shade for their birthday. I am getting rid of it for 2 reasons- 1 hard pan 2 it's so glitter heavy with no real color pay off and it's not something I reach for at all. $6

Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick holiday Mini in sugar cookie-  It use to smell like an almond cookie and now it smells like cheap vodka- this was a very light - concealer lip on me and it's old $13.

Nomad Eyeshadow- Single packaging broke and I was unable to de-pot it.

Tarte Deluxe mini finishing powder- I have dry skin I dont wear powders

2 Laura Mercier translucent finishing powder- deluxe mini- see above

Lipstick Queen- Saint Wine- Loved this in the same phase I loved Black Honey from Clinique- That's been at least 7 years ago so by. $26

Margaret Dabbs London Enriched nail polish-  No idea where this came from or how old it is, but its in an awful color and smells of death. No price found

Ciate London Nail Polish- Spinning teacup I almost never wear nail polish and when I do it's only Gel colors for me.  I am not in middle school and don't wear pastel nails anymore. $12

Seche Vive Top Coat Ineffective $13

Makeup Revolution lip gloss I actually liked it, but it lost it's life in the washer and dryer. $7

Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme-  Bite has bit the dust as a brand, and so has this lipstick for me.  I loved this formula when it first came out it was matte but not liquid it had great colors (at one point I probably owned 5 or 6) but this last to go.  It is so drying, it has gone bad and just tugs at my lips.  I am sad because I don't own another lipstick this color it's an red leaning orange bright and punchy. It will be missed, but I will replace it eventually with something hydrating and enjoyable to wear. Bite is no longer sold- price is approximation $20 (or you can spend too much on amazon for something that is most likely expired)

Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able foundation-  I went to use it and it was a weird consistency and smelled funny and may have been growing something- so not only did I not put it on my skin I tossed it in the bin.  Marc Jacobs has since ended it's makeup line- so I will use what I purchased this for as value- On sale in 2020 for $28 (50% off)

Secret Brand antiperspirant - It gave me hives - I must be allergic to one or more of the ingredients $8

Then and now

In April of 2020 I took an inventory of my makeup collection.  Today I inventoried the same categories.  Below are the results.  My noticing is that my collection has WAY more skin care and categories I didn't even bother with last time, but what I did include has seen some major shifts.  I have used/decluttered a lot of face products, but still have way more than I need.

I have the same number of eyeshadow palettes but none are the same- everything I own now is new since 2020 in this category.

I still love lipstick, but I've reduced by a lot.

Anyway here is the comparison.

A few of my favorite things 2022

I'm sure I've forgotten things, but this is what has been important enough for me to remember to write it down.

I don't have an item for every category like I've tried to do in the past, because frankly, I've become more selective and only put things I can honestly recommend to people without any hesitation.

Beauty

Hair: Dry Bar - Prep and Prime. I have always had hair that gets knotted easily- as I child it was the cause of most fights with my mom.  So when I tell you I've tried nearly ever brand of de-tangler on the market from drug store to more expensive than this - it's true.  But I will never buy another brand every again.  The bottle lasts me about 6 months and is amazing and worth every penny. $26

Hair: Living Proof- PhD Shampoo and Conditioner- I used this throughout most of 2020 and 2021 this year I thought I'd try other products, and that was a mistake.  Other products cause build up on my hair and create an environment for oil production- where as with this combo I only have to wash my hair 1x a week. Which for someone who both loves and hates showers for sensory reasons that's helpful. $30 each

Tool: Hair Brush- This brush makes one of my least favorite tasks easier. This and the Prep and Prime Save the day. It's easy to hold in either hand, gets through my hair without fuss and is easy to clean. $12

Tool: Gimme Hair Bands These are the first and only hair bands I have tried that never pull out any hair. I've been using the same band for 3 weeks and there isn't a single hair stuck to or wrapped around it. I have the thick and medium sizes. I like the thick more, but I definitely think it's designed for people with even more hair than I have or really curly hair, but they have bands for thin hair as well. I haven't had a single pony tail headache since I started using these. $10 for a pack (12 in a pack for Fine Or Medium and 6 in a pack for thick)

Tool: Make up eraser I use to use makeup wipes- Now I just travel with this and it's something I use daily. I probably have 3-4 full sized, 1 small and this black Friday I picked up the 7 minis in the wash bag.  They are gentle on the skin but tough on makeup- And so much better for the environment than the 1-time use wipes.  $10-25.

Soap: Ivory Oak Farms If you follow my blog at all you know I've fallen in love with this brand- Sadly none of my faves are on their website right now as they are a small batch farm but if you can snag the following you will not regret it:  Unscented- all of the benefits none of the smells for my more sensitive friends,  Pumpkin Spice, and my all time fave Eucalyptus Mint. I divide my bars into four to make them last longer and 1 bar will last 4-6 months at the sink and 2 months in the shower. $7.49

Cleanser: Farmacy Green Clean I posted my most recent purchase here- the trio I picked up for the holidays, but they whole line is great (except the "Clean" one that has a formula fail)  This line is great. I again tried other products this year that while not bad are simply not this good.  This takes off a full face of high coverage make up, sun screen, water proof make up with complete ease and does not dry out my skin or leave it greasy- though I almost always double cleanse it really isn't required with this.  The trio was $46 but a full size single is $36 and it does come in a jumbo size as well.

Clothing/Shoes:

Dress: Old Navy - This dress defined summer and early fall for me.  I love this dress so much I own it in 3 colors (Slate Blue, Black, and Aqua). I love Old Navy for expanding their Tall sizing beyond pants - it's size inclusive company that's affordable and that's not easy to find. The dress has a cut out in the back, but its discrete enough I can wear it to work. It allows for airflow to keep me at a comfortable temperature. Price Varies

Lounge/Sleep: American Tall- Joggers and American Tall: Cozy Crew. Finding winter PJs or lounge wear that is long enough in the pants and sleeves has until this year been impossible. Until I tried my husband's favorite brand: American Tall. They are for women 5'9" to 6'6" and men 6'3" to 7'1".  I own these items in 2 colors, Black and Cream- they are light weight enough to wear in warmer (not hot) weather and cozy enough to keep me warm on lazy days at home. I wear a Large top and bottom in the regular tall length.  Bottoms $49, Top $39

Shoe: Vessi- Everyday Classic While these are a newer addition to my life this fall I am completely smitten.  It took me awhile to get use to how snug they fit (sensory issues) but I have adjusted and really like it.  They have a very large toe box that gives my feet room to spread out. They are also completely waterproof.  I live in the PWN I need these. I have worn them in rain and snow and slush. They are terrific travel shoes and are yet another-husband recommendation that worked out. $135

Purse: Pom Pom London- Mayfair Bag tan- I had previously been carrying a black coach cross body that I've used for the last 5+ years and while I still love it, I had seen these everywhere, like that it was a bit better designed (more pockets) and that it had zippers instead of just a flap. I use this bag every day and love how much it holds. It comes with the bag a leather strap and your choice of 2 additional straps to change the style. $113. (Must use code listed on page - currently Bankbundle)

Bottoms: Beta Brand- Sassiest Pants- These aren't pants but its not a skirt but I love it.  So much so that I'm buying a second pair in a smaller size. I really struggled with things fitting this year and shifts in weight and this has been a go to feel good outfit- in a world when not a lot did.  They have petite, regular and long and are very size inclusive.  I've tried other betabrand pants and really like them too.

Home:

Squatty Potty- It does what it is supposed to do and makes my life easier and it looks nicer than the plastic ones. $39.99

Best Pillow Ever- Yet another "my husband knows best" you can adjust the fill of this pillow to meet your needs. It comes in Queen or king- I would recommend the Queen, but it's personal choice.  This is a thick pillow and can be made even larger with addition fluff that it comes with.  $35-$40

Cotton Baskets I have a total of 11 of the baskets from this line around my home.  We have 2 larger ones (Tall 13") in the open space in our nightstands. 5 (short 13") at the foot of our bed which has open storage and 4 (tall 11") to help keep my bathroom organized. They are easy to use, they look nice and having them around the home helps unify our space.  Plus it's target so they are affordable. The line ranges in price from $8 to $30.

Not a Maximalist- Not a minimalist

Minimalism while beautiful was never going to be a thing for me- I struggle with object permanence- aka if I cannot see it, it doesn't exist.  This is clear if you open my fridge- or cupboards- I need items I use and eat to be on my sight line. My husband gives me a hard time - and rightfully so for buying food I never end up eating. It's not that I am trying to be wasteful I just completely forget that I've purchased it and put it there.   This also impacts the clothing I choose to wear being whats on top of the pile over anything else resulting in me wearing many of the same items over and over again.

When I was a kid and had a bad day- my mom would take me to target.  While not a bad thing I did build some unhealthy habits related to shopping as a way to gratify mental health issues.  I've spent the last several years working on the makeup obsession that was a result of some of that and while I will continue to work on using up products rather than buying more in that department I'd now like to go in to my closet and dressers that are bursting at the seams often with things I don't wear.  I also struggle with only keeping things that fit me now.  As someone who has struggled with food and disordered eating for the majority of my life I'm finally learning to love my body as it is and dress for the way I look today.  But I have a lot of decluttering and letting go to do and I know it's going to take time.

I am ending 2022 with a closet clean out, things I have no personal attachment to that are the "easy" things to let go of, mostly because I've found better options for those items in my closet (dresses I like more, pants that fit better, things that aren't scratchy) and making a plan for determining what I do and don't use so I can declutter this aspect of my life.  So while I will likely never be a minimalist, I can streamline for myself so I get use out of what I have and only keep what I actually enjoy wearing.

I also want to reduce what I am bringing into my home and set aside my normal shopping habit money for a longer term goal of a sauna. Which is something that could actually bring me joy every day.

If you have any recommendations for how you figure out what can stay and what can go I'd happily take the feedback and recommendations.

Team Project Pan November 2022 Update

Coming into November I knew I would likely be making several purchases as it is sale seasons for beauty, but I did my best to only buy in categories I know I will use and products I already know I love, and while I spent more than I had planned- I am also set on my basics (retinol, Vit C, Cleanser, Toner, sunscreen, and lotion) for the next 3-6 months so I justify it in my head.

In November I did a review of my Sephora purchases since 2016 and decluttered nearly everything from purchased in 2018 or earlier.

I had an unforseen trip at the start of the month and had 15 minutes to pack for it, so not much came with me, purchased some small items to use while I was in Minnesota so I could feel like myself in a time when my world felt like it was falling apart, some of them had to be left there due to flight restrictions, but I included all of them below. The shampoo and conditioner will be in my travel bag until used up and the lip balm will live in my purse.

Basically I bought a lot this month but I used up or decluttered more.

Empties:

Cake Body Butter  Packaging has changed but its the same thing- $9 I've had it for years and kept it in the work bag finally finished it.

Farmacy Deep Sweep Toner I got a travel mini of this in sept when I finished my last toner. I really like it and will purchased a full size during the Sephora Sale this month. $15

Sunday Riley Pink Drink I had a deluxe sample that is half the size so I've assessed half the price point but you can only get that exact product in a kit. I used it as my only skin care night item when I was in Minnesota, so it was used daily after I cleansed my face each night. It was fine The mister is great (and it's the same as what's on the full size) I don't really use an essence in my daily routine, but it was fine and felt like it helped my skin after days sitting in dry air hospitals. $24

Eyeko dual ended shadow stick I wore this every day when I was home. It's a super easy quick out the door product. It is not as long wearing as other shadow sticks I have tried, but I would certainly try it or another color combo again. $25

Sunday Riley High Dose Retinol I love this product this is the 2nd one I've had. I got it in July and used it up in November.  That's 3 months+ and I'm okay with that. I notice a difference. I understand there are more affordable options and maybe those are better for you, but for me I love this product and will continue to use it $85

Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Serum- I love this product I've tried others and haven't had great success so I'll keep coming back. It visibly brightens my skin without burning or irritation. The 1oz bottle lasts about 3 months with daily use. $85

Earth Harbor Sunshine Dew Cleansing Oil: I wanted to love this one. I got it through a fabfitfun discount, but it requires so much product to actually cleanse it's not sustainable. If all I ever wore was sunscreen, it would be fine and sometimes thats all I wear so it works, but if there is any eye makeup, shadow brows or mascara  or foundation it just doesn't cut it on its own. So if you know that you are a light to no make up user, this is great, but for me, most days I need more. $24.

Elizabeth Mott Thank me Later eye shadow primer Probably the best eye primer I've ever used. And I did fully use it up.  I like it more than urban decay, but both are good. $15.49

Beekman SPF 35 Primer Mini I had heard good things, and while it's fine, its very thin and I feel like no matter how much I apply it wouldn't be enough. $13

Carifree Toothpaste I love this toothpaste- It's great for my teeth, and I've noticed a difference in the quality of my smile. $18

Progress:

Earth harbor laguna is a body oil I apply all over 1x a week. I feel like it restores moisture that I am missing, but it’s too much for me to use everyday. Well I was out of town half of November so not much progress, probably 1/3 left. $26

Laroche-Posay Lipkar Wash AP+ I had high hopes for this one. But for my face it's not a good fit. It left my skin feeling dry. I have been using it as a body wash in the shower and haven't had the issues I had with the skin on my face, but my skin is extra pilly after I use this product- so I guess it's exfoliating, so that's good, but I wont buy it again. About 1/3 left at the end of November.

2x uses in October

Ivory Oak Oatmeal Honey Goat Milk Soap I cut these bars into fourths to make them easier for me to use as hand soap. I finished another 1/4 this month that leaves 1 left. I have another order of soaps in the mail from them.  Shipping is their downfall.  I've done Pre-order twice now and both times it's taken me reaching out to them to get them to send the product I paid for.  I truly love these soaps but they need to get their distribution situation figured out. I have a 2nd Ivory Oak soap I'm using up in the shower right now too.

Glossier Balm-dotcom - Birthday Cake It's not universal because it has sparkle so I personally wouldn't use it anywhere other than my lips. My lips got super dry being in the hospital for a lot of November and then the dry air of winter set in and this isn't great for defending against that. I'd rather just use vaseline, but I've used up half of this so far.

Jouer Bronzer Due- It was purchased July 2019- It still works fine, though its a bit orange for me. It works better in the summer months. I started using it when I broke/ finished my butter bronzer that I love. I will try to pan it in 2023.

Declutter:

It Cosmetics Original CC cream I honestly have no idea how old this is. I know my oldest known foundation that I can track through the sephora app is July of 2018- but this is older than that.  It probably has a month left worth of daily use given how much product is in a tube (1.7 oz) but I just cannot, it's clearly gone off and today it irritated my skin so much I'm calling it.  My skin and I deserve better. $44

Jouer Matte Lip Balm- I have used up over half of this product, but it makes my lips worse- so it has to go $22

Kaja Lip Duo from May 2019  Not still in production price at time of purchase was $8

Tatcha Silk Primer Mini January 2019 I used a lot of this up, but it has a 3 month shelf life so it's declutter is long over due.  When I had a lot of acne I used primer as a way to even out my skin, but at this point in life I like that my skin shows through so I wouldn't repurchase $24

Dior Rough Kohl Red Lipstick  Dec 2017 This was an amazing lipstick and I got a ton of use out of it but the texture has changed it looks like it's gone bad. They don't make this exact one any more but I put the price of a red Dior lipstick $42

Make up forever lipstick Rouge Sept 2017 Packaging changed, but it's the same product.  Its a great red, but it smells like crayons so it's time to go $25

Sephora 10 hour Wear foundations march 2017 Its 3/4 of the way done, but after 5 years I'm not putting it on my face also 10 hours is not enough for me my day is longer than that.  They don't make this exact one but I've tried Best Skin Ever by Sephora and it's similar $20

Huda Beauty Obsessions palette in Warm - its been discontinued (I think I got it in 2018 as a gift) I have gotten a lot of use out of several of the lighter more transitional shades, but the ones left aren't things I reach for - I'm more of a cool tone person or single sparkle shadows. I like the very small 9 pan format and think they are reasonably priced for the product. If I saw a color story that inspired me, I'd probably buy it. $29

Pat McGrath Labs mini eye shadow palette.  It was all shimmer shades, and when I go to use it I feel like all the colors make my eyes look dirty, or don't show up as punchy as I want- even with a based. I feel like I have better shimmer shades from colour pop that are less than half the cost.  $22

Inkey List Vit. C Broke me out. $15

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara Truly my current favorite, but it's been open for 6 months and in daily use for 3 so it's gotta go. I got a mini/ travel size pack of 5 different mascaras to try out to see if I like anything else better, but this is one I'll always be okay coming back to $26.

Dr. Jart BB cream I have had this foundation for at least 4 years, the pump stopped working last month and with the true exposure to air it's really showing it's age and is time to go. That being said I LOVE this foundation. It's a great weight and great tone for me- I use the lightest shade.  I would buy it again if I ever have a need for another foundation (not likely) $44

Fenty Stunna Lip Fluid In Unbutton.  I wanted to like this, but the formula keeps separating and makes my lips crack.  $26

Mellow Lipstick in Candy Floss I may keep a lipstick beyond its "best by" date. But when it gets bumby its time to pass it to the trash.  This was fun from an Ispy bag years ago (haven't gotten one in at least 4 years) so there's that. It was a fun color that came out a few times a year. $16

Sephora Brand Concealer medium to full coverage I have 01 and it has the wrong undertones I also haven't worn concealer in 4 years so time to go. $15

KVD everlasting lip mini- I had mine in blue grey shade called wolf. Wore it for halloween events for years- love it but it smells like paint thinner now.  $10

Tarte Mini liquid lip in birthday suit- Love the color but its chunky and wont mix back together- Counts as 1 product out but no price as it came in a kit.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion- Anti aging- Use to come in a squeeze tube with 11ml instead of 10.  But that's how old this is. There is a reason this was/is a cult product, but mine has gotten hard in the tube.  $25

ABH mini matte lipstick.  This is in a concealer lip color on me.  Counts as a product but no price- came in a kit.

Benefit Hoola mini contour stick.  Came in an ipsy bag (at least 4 years ago), smells funny- 1 product no price.

Black Gel Liner- Not a look I like any more- another step I dont want to do. $10

Ella Eden single eyeshadow in Harmony is a beautiful color that I never reach for because its a single I forget I have except for the 4 times a year I sort through my kit. I have a very similar color in a complete palette. $14

Black Honey Clinque mini lip stick.  This use to be the only lipstick I ever wore.  Now I hate it. I've tried so many times but I give up it's good bye.  $10

Tarteist Pro Palette- I gave this one a chance this year and held on to it all year, but was purchased in 2017 and I am never reaching for it. So it's time to go. The newer version sells for $40

Stila Heaven's Hue Highligher in Kitten Got this in march of 2017 and I cringe to think how long I've put this cream product on my skin.   It gotten old and has always been to dark for me so even it's got to go.  I got a powder highlighter at the same time, but since I used my fingers for this, it is showing it's age much more- I will try to pan the other one this year. If you are looking for a fun cream high lighter I do really love the formula if you get a good shade for you.  $34

Incoming:

Sephora VIB Sale- I got 15% off purchases so I picked up Mascara because I'm all out, Toner replacement because I ran out in November, Skin Care because I knew I'd run out in November and I love getting 15% off really expensive skin care, Repurchased the Farmacy Cleansing Balms I've tried other products, but nothing is as good, and I bought a cream blush because I've been using the same blush for 11 months and I wanted to try something new.
Here is the actual list of items:

Minnesota Purchases: Esos Lip balm ($2), Perfect Hair Day Travel size shampoo and conditioner ($16 each) Ordinary Cleanser ($7.50) Prep and Prime ($26) But I had to leave the cleanser and Prep and Prime in MN as they were too big for my carry on by volume. They will be there next time I'm in Minnesota.

Black Friday Ulta Purchase: 8 Items for self 1 for gift: $120 total
IT BRUSHBLISS Sun screen (I didn't love it, but it was my favorite this year and I need a new one),  Mini Makeup eraser (Favorite way to remove make up), Mac Paint PotGloss Bomb (Decluttered most of my red lips because they were old), Hempz OriginalVice Hydrating Lip (I am decluttering my fun colors so I needed a new one), Liquid Glass Rinse

Fab Fit fun- Just the add on I don't include what I get in the box.  $14 for a Earth harbor mini kit

Team Project Pan October 2022 update

I did a declutter this month-swatching a lot and smelling a lot to see what's gone off.  - The pandemic was bad for my makeup I really haven't purchased much in the last 3 years, but because of Masking I wasn't wearing nearly as much as I once did- so I've had.a lot expire before I could use it up.

Used up or decluttered a total of 30 items this month and made pretty good progress on my regular use items.

Empties;

Hourglass Micro eyeliner- Obsidian- This ultra find eyeliner is great for tight-lining, but its not retractable and I found it broke easily. There are drugstore dupes for this so I wont't spend this money again. $20

3 Colourpop Lip pencils: Beekeeper, Oh Snap, and Brick. $7 each ($21)

Grown Alchemist Body Cream - I have 3 of these. I decluttered 1 this month by gifting it to a friend who will enjoy it, and now I've used up 1 I have 1 more left. I got all 3 tubes from Fabfitfun for $13 but re-purchase price would be $24

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer I think this is the 3rd or 4th butter bronzer I've had. It's a cult favorite for a reason, and if I didn't have so many other bronzers I'd be rushing out to get another one. I had a small ring left around the edge, but it dropped and shatter what was left, I attempted to re-press but it's not enough product left so I called it. $15.99

Jet Lag Mask Mini I got this as a birthday gift I believe from Sephora- it's a deluxe sample. I finally getting around to using it. It's light and doesn't irritate my skin.  I typically use a sheet mask for travel, but see how this one would be nice. I used 3 uses in September and 3 in October for a total of 6 uses before finishing it up. It is a deluxe sample so I will count it as a completed product as it had multiple uses but no associated cost.

Missha SPF- Korean skin care is the best and so far I'm loving this sunscreen. It has a light milky pink in color and blends into skin.  No noticeable flash back. It does leave a soft focus finish as advertised. Wore it under makeup in Europe and it was fine- I typically did sunscreen early and the  foundation after 30 minutes this seemed to work well. If you have darker skin you may not like this as it does leave a milky light pink finish on the skin. This fall I noticed it was drying and not something that my fall/winter skin can tolerate very well. I used it up, but probably wouldn't purchase again. $13.75

Carifree Treatment Rinse Trying to take control of my issues with my teeth- I've always had issues with my teeth since I was really little with baby teeth. My sensory issues multiply those concerns, but I've noticed a difference with this product and will continue to use it along with some of their other products $39 (even though it's 2 bottles I'm counting it as 1 product)

ABH Clear Brow Gel - mini Its a fine product, but I don't really feel the need for the extra step but i used it to finish it up. $9

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara My current favorite mascara, it's been open for 6 months and actively used for 3, I've noticed some eye sensitivity and know that this one is aging out- I may save and use a lot of makeup past expiration dates, but Mascara I try to get rid of after 3 months of consistent use, Don't mess with your eyes. $26

Progress:

Earth Harbor Sunshine Dew Cleansing Oil: I wanted to love this one and if I wore less product I probably would. $24.

Earth harbor laguna is a body oil I apply all over 1x a week. I feel like it restores moisture that I am missing, but it’s too much for me to use everyday. About 1/2 done at the end of Oct -- Also my hubby loves the smell of this one. $26

Grown Alchemist Body Cream I started this fall with 3 tubes (a total of 360mls) of this product and now I'm working on my last one. While it's a great moisturizer, I'm not a huge fan of the smell. I got all 3 through fabfitfun for $13 but they typically sell for $24 each. After 2 months of basically full time use I'm really over the scent.  I'll probably put it in my box to pan next year.

A little over half way done with it at the end of October.

2x uses in October

Farmacy Deep Sweep Toner I got a travel mini of this last month when I finished my last toner. I really like it and can totally see myself purchasing the full size when I run out of the mini and use up other products. Probably 3-4 days of use left at the end of Oct.

Glossier Balm-dotcom - Birthday Cake It's not universal because it has sparkle so I personally wouldn't use it anywhere other than my lips.  It's fine, but I don't love it. I put it on when I'm in bed. I won't repurchase but I won't waste it either.

Jouer Matte Lip Balm- This lives in my purse and is reapplied several times a day. It feels nice at first, but sometimes I worry it makes my lips worse.   It's interesting, I'm not a huge fan of a matte balm and wouldn't spend money on it in the future.

Declutter

Tarte Shape Tape in fair- I hate this product, and have no idea how long this tube has been kicking around but I'd say at least 4 years- probably more. I wanted to like it- for a while EVERYONE liked it, but it so thick. I rarely wear concealer as it is, and when I do I prefer a thin formula. $30

Grown Alchemist Body Cream - I have 3 of these. I am fully committed to using up 2 of them. However I have a friend who would enjoy the scent of this product and enjoy using it far more than me. $24

Ipsy Color Corrector in pistachio - My last Ipsy bag was from when I lived in Minneapolis so more than 5 years old- Smells like alcohol at this point- no known cost- will just count as 1 item out.

Kevyn Aucoin Contour and Highlight Mini Duo I have several Kevyn Aucoin products I enjoy, even other powders- but the application and finish of this is different from the full size products I own, I find the contour patchy and I have 5 highlighters in nearly the same shade- so I wont use it and it goes. $25

ABH Banana Stick- I never would have purchased this for myself- I don't like banana powders or creams it must have come in a box and I couldn't tell you when.  I think they make me look too yellow. $25

Julep Cushion Complexion (Conclear) I remember really liking this product- especially when I was dealing with more skin issues like acne. But then in 2020 everything was put away and now when I had a skin issue again I went to use it and it's gone bad. If I ever decided to use concealer again I'd consider this one $16

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Lipstick I have the old bullet lipstick packaging in a color they no longer produce- that's a red flag for time to go right there.  Its a deep purple in a matte formula.  I don't wear many mattes any more and I have more dark purples that haven't gone off.  This smells like a crayola crayon a dead give away it's time to toss it $25

Nars Orgasm Lipstick- Mini No cost associated with this mini- I just hate the way it looks on my lips. I've tried a dozen ways to make it work and it just doesn't.

Maybelline Electric Shine Lipglass I think I got this for halloween one year- it's since separated and wont mix back together. It's been discontinued.

3 Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks - Bite has gone out of business and I cannot find a link for this blog I had the colors: liqourice, jam ad opal. I've never been a huge fan of their lip formula.  I did love their mascara though.

Giorgio Armani mini lipstick - has separated and smells like cheap vodka - no associated cost

Sephora Eyeliner- Mine is in blue. It tugs a lot and is uncomfortable to use $10

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner- Red Diva- I wear lip liner with red lips to stop them from feathering or bleeding- this didn't help with either $3.49

Colourpop Pot eyeliner in Red- Stains my eyes, I wont use it. $5

Lume mini deodorant Honestly I feel like these must have multiplied or I got some as a freebie in a box. I really wanted to love this product- particularly for my feet, but it stings the skin on my body and creates an itchy experience on my underarms.  I thought I'd gotten rid of it all, but I found another- Tried it again, and unfortunately had the same experience. $6

Redken Mega All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner I picked these up with my summer hair cut and hate them. But they were salon expensive so I'm slowly using them up- but I decided that enough was enough and I'm not going to use crappy products just because I have them. These are causing buildup  on my hair and I've noticed more knots, snarls and breakage so enough is enough I have the money to buy new products and infact have already picked up my perfect hair day products because those were great so I am happy to see these leave. $24 each ($48)

INCOMING

2 New Mac lipsticks I picked up at the Estee Lauder Company store for $32.83

Eu'Genia Shea Butter I got it through fabfitfun for $14 and hope it will be a good lotion for the winter and a break from scented products that have been a struggle for me.

Ulta Order: SPF, Holiday Shampoo/Conditioner/Mask Pack, eye brow pencil, Lip gloss, Rally prep and Prime (50% off). I got a free mini dry shampoo as a gift with order and also picked up 2 packs of hair binders but wont count them here as they aren't something you use up. $101 on beauty items included tax

Team project pan September 2022

First month of the school year- If I do anything close to resembling productive this month I will be happy.

EMPTIES

REN AHA/BHA toner: I've had this for over a year, it probably had 5ml left in it, but it no longer feels right- almost tacky on my skin, so I think it's gone off and I'm calling it done $39

Shiseido Face Cotton 165 Pack- I love these I know there are reusable options that are probably better for the planet, but I like these more. Repurchased on sale $10

PROGRESS

Perricone MD no make up Foundation: I have it in the old packaging I am using most days. It was nearly full when I started using it in August, so it's going to take awhile but it's lightweight easy and about the coverage I'm looking for at this stage of my life.  I only wear foundation 25% of days this fall.

I used up close to half of the bottle in August, but was reapplying more than I will in the fall- should finish sometime in October.

Earth Harbor Sunshine Dew Cleansing Oil: I wanted to love this one. I got it through a fabfitfun discount, but it requires so much product to actually cleanse it's not sustainable. As it is, it doesn't cut through much and the fragrance stings when used near my eyes. I can easily use it up, as it takes almost 2 full droppers to get my makeup off, but I wouldn't recommend it $24.

Carifree Gel 1100 Tooth paste. I have really cavity prone teeth and always have.  I struggle with sensitivity as well as sensory overload when it comes to my mouth. I am using this tooth paste along with the Treatment Rinse to work to have a healthier mouth.  It's not cheap, but I cannot afford to not take my oral health more seriously.

Grown Alchemist Body Cream I have 3 tubes of this product for a total of 360ml. While it's a great moisturizer- But its not my favorite smell. I got the pack in a Fabfitfun box probably spring 2020 or 21 and I've been putting off using it. But I do own them and I'm not purchasing more body creams until I use up these. I can only use them on my legs after a shower or before bed.  I've used up about half a tube in September. Hopefully I can finish up 2 tubes by the end of the year, but don't think I'll commit myself to 6 straight months of it.

Jet Lag Mask Mini I got this as a birthday gift I believe from Sephora- it's a deluxe sample. I finally getting around to using it. It's light and doesn't irritate my skin.  I typically use a sheet mask for travel, but see how this one would be nice. I had 3 uses in the deluxe sample tube.

Laroche-Posay Lipkar Wash AP+ I had high hopes for this one. But for my face it's not a good fit. It left my skin feeling dry. I have been using it as a body wash in the shower and haven't had the issues I had with the skin on my face. I'm about 1/3 through it.

DECLUTTER

KVD Glitter Gel- Cannot find it for sale any where- which isn't shocking, the Gel is a weird experience, but the dry down is great. However mine has dried up because it's probably 4 years old. I did find it for sale in other countries and have placed the value here based on that conversion.  I got a ton of use out of it for spirit days but its showing its age and I'm ready to be done $14

Stila Glitter and Glow They dont make the color I had (it was blue) and it was fun, but its separating, and stings so it had to go. $24

INCOMING

I made a Sephora order at the start of the month for 5 products. A restock of the Shiseido face cottons, A new face cleanser, as I'm not sure about the ones I'm currently using, 2 toners in mini size so that I can give them a try before making a larger investment and a moisturizing bar.  A little over $80 total.  Also got some foil samples to try of products I've been interested in.

Running totals:

Empties: 62 + 2 = 64                         Declutters: 59 +2 = 61

Team Project Pan August 2022

Started this month in Ireland- The foundations Foils are from all of Ireland plus the month of August, everything else is just August. Then spent 5 more days in quarantine, because I got Covid in Ireland, then had family in town then begrudgingly went back to work.

Had a goal of finishing up some foil packets and samples while traveling which I did and continued to use more during the month. I had Covid in August and as a result developed a less common symptom of extremely dry skin, lips and eyes. This made the experience of wearing much makeup especially heavier make up undesirable.  Pretty low key month over all.

Empties

Blaq under eye patches- finished last 2 on trip. Used one in between flights to try to ease really dry under eyes and the other to fight bags after limited rest. Nothing special eye patches aren’t really my thing I would not repurchase -$20

Glamglow Bubble Mask- I've used plenty of these before. I'm fairly certain this is my last one I wouldn't purchase them again, but would certainly use another one if I find more in my stash. Nothing special especially for the price. $9

Bite Mini Mascara- Not technically "Empty" but I'm calling it because I opened it at the start of June, 3 months and done especially with the minis, allergy season and travel. I do actually like this formula, it's very lengthening and lasts for at least 10 hours in the summer which for a non-waterproof product is about all I can ask for. (It may last longer but thats the length of my day in the summer)- but none of that matters because Bite Beauty has bit the dust and is no longer in business. $12

Farmacy Clearly Clean Cleansing Balm I've previously used up 2 Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balms and decided to switch to the fragrance free version this go round. That was a mistake- it's clearly a different formula and it simply doesn't get my face clean, but does leave a residue. $36

Fresh Sugar Lip Balm In caramel. This product is great for keeping in moisture you already have, but not so great at adding moisture. If you already have really dry lips this will not solve the problem. $18

Hempz Original Lotion I LOVE  this lotion. I love the smell (it transports me to a simpler time) and I love the way it leaves even my driest skin feeling silky smooth and moisturized. 100% will purchase again. $25

Marina By Earth Harbor- This month as I struggled with really dry skin, I was needing to apply heavy creams morning and night, but when I felt like I needed some additional moisture I used this. I filled 1 dropper and put it in my hands and then patted it onto my face and neck.  I have another Earth Harbor  Serum to use when then one is gone, but it's specifically for hydration. I have found I really like the brand. $38

Foil packs (I have packs of 10 foil sample foundations- each pack was $10- each time I finish 10 samples no matter the pack I will count it as 1 empty worth $10)

Laura Mercier tint- I have a full size of this in 1N2

  •  1w1 2 uses- a little warmer than I typically wear but it was nice light coverage went well over sunscreen
  • 0w1 1 use- Closer to my shade than the first one I tried.  Very light coverage- works well on no make up makeup days.
  • 1C0 1 use- Close to my shade, but my skin has been so dry in Ireland that everything is a flaky mess.
  • 1N0- Close to my shade, picks up all the flakey patches on my skin right now.

Illa Super Serum Skin Tint - No coverage not a fan of the serum consistency

  •  ST4 Best shade match of the ones I tried 1 use very light weight but also almost no coverage- this will help even out tone but that’s it
  • ST3 1 use- This shade was to Light for me, but it did even out my redness- no real coverage though
  • ST1 1 use- goes on with better coverage with a brush than a sponge. I feel like a ghost with this shade.  If you are very fair this range has something for you.  As for me I'm at home in quarantine so it doesn't matter how much I look like a ghost
  • ST0.5  Extra fair doesn't even sound light enough for what this is.  I used it in conjunction with a foundation I enjoy but that is too dark one day and that worked, but I won't spend money on a mix in product.  I will say the product applies best with a brush over any other method.

Sephora Best Skin Ever- Medium Coverage foundation- Buildable  I already own a full size of this foundation in 10N which is a close but not best fit.

  • 03P This is the lightest shade- It's way to light for me very milky pink
  • 11.5P This is probably my best fit shade think pink undertone suits be well. (10th Samples, 1 product $10)
Rare Beauty Foundation- Medium Coverage Foundation- Feels a little drying on my skin (I have dry skin already) After 8 hours makeup was already separating and had settled into all lines and pores
  • 120C too light especially in summer - mixed with moisturizer to try to get better wear - it extended it about an hour but but that's not even enough for my school day.
  • 140W Is warmer than I traditionally wear- But I like it- especially for the summer. It wakes up my face.
  • Primer Sample- Feels like a silicone based primer it's fine-but I don't really see the purpose of primer on a daily basis.
  • 160C- I tried this with the primer sample and it's a great shade match. Unfortunately I'm experiencing extremely dry skin this month as a lingering post-Covid symptom and nothing seems to look good on my skin right now.
Fenty Beauty Soft Matte Full coverage- You'd need your exact shade to make this work. Feels and looks like a clay mask and is way more coverage than I want to wear any day, but especially not daily coverage for me. I think full coverage makeup is on the way out; it looks fake. I'm pretty frustrated that the majority of the samples in the kits I got are Fenty Matte specifically, they have a tint product and a hydrating one and I would have liked to try those too.
  • 100- Basically White
  • 105 - Very Yellow and also too light for me
  • 110- Mixed it with moisturizer- less cakey but still too light for me. At one point in time I owned this shade because it's what matched in store, but I could never actually wear it (never trust the makeup counter lights- always get a sample)
  • 120 I don’t understand the Fenty range this color feels almost  okay while 150 is too light
  • 145 - Too olive for me
  • 150 Should work for me based on other brands but it also felt way too light- likely as a result of how full coverage it is.
  • 185- Well this is my perfect shade match its way darker than I would ever think to buy- and I won't ever buy it because "cake face" isn't my style.  (10th Foundation 1 product = $10)
Other Foil Packets-not counted in empties or value.
Glamglow Tropical Cleanse- Like all other glam glow products- this one burns, not as bad as the others, but it's pretty bad- especially anywhere near the eyes.

Progress

Missha Soft Finish SPF50/PA+++- Korean skin care is the best and so far I'm loving this sunscreen. I used up close to half of the bottle in August, but was reapplying more than I will in the fall- should finish sometime in October.

Eyeko Shadow Stick- This was my only eye make up on vacation- it was perfect for 10 days worth of light makeup days, After that I really needed to sharpen it and could no longer use it til I got home because the wood part of the pencil was scratchy. I continued use but less often once we got home and I had more colorful options

Ivory Oak soap: I cut my large bar into 4 pieces for ease of use and finished 1 piece at home and brought another on vacay as my hand and body soap and used it up in 13 days; leaving me half the bar left to use at home (probably 2 months worth) Currently using the Oatmeal Honey- It has some grit in it, which I don't love. But I have put in an order for their fall collection which I know I love.

Sephora Brow Pencil I have mine in medium brown.  It has more red in it than I like and feels a lot softer than what I'm use to.  I can and will use it, but I wont repurchase it and will spend the money to go back to what I know and like.

Shiseido Face Cotton 165 Pack- I love these I know there are reusable options that are probably better for the planet, but I like these more. I got my last pack for $8 at Marshall's- A pack typically lasts me 3-4 months.

Ren Toner I really believed in June that I'd be done with this by the end of August; and if my skin had behaved, I likely would have been; however, as a result of Covid I suffered from a number of skin issues and maybe used this product 2 times.  I plan to finish it by the end of the year, if not it will be decluttered due to being so old, but I can't use it much due to my current skin conditions, and healing those comes first.

Declutter

GloWish Skin Tint- 2 Deluxe Samples- brought it with a bunch of foil packs on vacation- WAY TO DARK for me. I had it in the shade 03 light. It also pilled up when applied over sunscreen. Had to chuck it. No Price known.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation - I have this in the wrong shade its too dark, It's at least 5 years old and is also not a formula I really like- Makes me feel cakey. $44

Incoming:

I don't count my main fabfitfun box items as individual incoming because I get them so much below retail and cannot identify as specific price, but I do count the extra items I choose to add to the box; which I got for a discount; the price I identify here is the discounted price.  This quarter I got 2 Items from Earth Harbor: A hydrating serum and an oil cleanser $20 total and a matte lip balm $10.

Running totals:

Empties: 53+ 9= 62                          Declutters: 56+3 = 59

1242.49+178 =1420.49                875.98 + 44 = $919.48
